THE 5 REASONS WHY… THE MDS NEXUS IS ONE OF A KIND

Did you know we can dose as accurate as one pellet? Our MDS Nexus is using optometric dosing technology to achieve this. This technology is unique in the plastics industry. Where our MDS Balance has its limitations when looking at extreme low dosing rates, the MDS Nexus is the solution. Can you dose less than one pellet per shot? With the MDS Nexus you can! Here we give you the 5 reasons why the MDS Nexus is one of a kind.

1. OPTOMETRIC TECHNOLOGY

I can hear you think: “What is optometric technology?” This is the way we can detect the presence of a pellet on the dosing disc. We use a photo electric sensor to detect the pellet. Image 1 shows how the sensor is looking through the holes in the dosing disc to detect the pellets. That’s how we can assure the required number of pellets are dosed.

2. 3D PRINTED BODY

The body of the MDS Nexus is a complex system of air channels, screw threats and vacuum areas. To produce the body out of steel is close to impossible and will produce a lot of waste material. Not the most environmental friendly solution. 3D printing the body gives us the ability to make a complex body like this and there is no waste produced! 3D printing also allows us to easily change the color or perform design changes.

3. SIZE DOES MATTER…

It sounds like the MDS Nexus is a technical complex machine and due to that quite big. However, it is the other way around. Yes, the MDS Nexus is a technical complex machine, but we managed to keep it compact. The MDS Nexus fits in the palm of your hand the size is only 217 x 100 x 236mm (w x l x h). With a size like this the MDS Nexus fits on most small extruders, injection molding machines and laboratory machines.

4. WORKS IN 3 PRODUCTION MODES

The MDS Nexus can be used in three different production modes: extrusion, injection molding and batch dosing. In extrusion mode you can set the dosing rate in % of the throughput using our special build-in calculator. You can also set the dosing rate in pellets per second. In injection molding the dosing rate can be set in pellets per shot, the calculator will give you the percentage according to the number of pellets. In batch mode you can set the number of pellets you want to dose. When the MDS Nexus reaches this amount of pellets, it will stop dosing automatically.

5. VERY EASY TO INSTALL

Connecting the MDSNexus to a touchscreen controller only takes one cable. Just connect the D-Sub connector (2) and the whole MCNexus is powered up! Besides power from the controller the MDS Nexus needs a compressed air supply (1). The MDS Nexus is automatically calibrating and due to that ready for production directly after powering on the controller!
